Christmas project

A little something to accompany our Christmas cards this year

Another pandemic filled year comes to an end. As Christmas is fast approaching, I was feeling this sense of urgency about decorating, preparing some mincemeat, sending the postcards to the family (which mostly live overseas), doing all the shopping, preparing the menus for the holiday season... So it occurred to us that adding some festive and crafty fun to the preparation would put us not only in the right mood, but it'd also be a nice addition to the usual Christmas card for the family. So we bought a few nice threads (lots of new Glide colors that probably would deserve their own post) and dug into the stash of Christmas fabric to put together a little raw edge appliqued square to include inside our Christmas cards.

First, I had to measure the cards and make them 1/4 inch smaller. Then we agreed on the shape of the tree, the little star and the fabrics that would feature with some fuzzy cutting. Then it was just a matter of getting them done. First the applique on the sewing machine:

Later the finish of the edges with the overlocker: Edge on the overlocker

And last but not least, the fruits of our labor, which got us all excited about our Christmas cards...

We wish you a Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year!
